As we all know, restoring the aesthetics of teeth is as important to patients as restoring the function of their teeth.👄
☝ Especially in the area of the front teeth.
There are several treatment options for aesthetic restoration of the incisors👉
- Veneers. Veneers themselves are ceramic plates that are bonded to the tooth with a special cement.🦷 Veneers can be used to change both the shape and colour of the tooth. Ceramic veneers do not change colour over time and are durable. This type of restoration gives the most aesthetic and predictable results in the long term, but to restore teeth with veneers, the teeth must be relatively healthy to begin with – only small fillings or small carious lesions are acceptable. It should be noted that the final result is achieved only after several visits – first the diagnosis, then the teeth grinding and the fabrication and fixation of the temporary veneers, and then the fabrication and cementation of the permanent veneers.
- Crowns. Zirconia or ceramic crowns in the incisal area are most often chosen when there is no possibility to place veneers – when there are already existing large fillings or extensive carious lesions and there is little healthy tooth tissue left. Like veneers, crowns provide a very aesthetic end result, are durable and do not change their original colour over time. The stages of crown fabrication are very similar to those for veneers, so crowns are not fabricated in a single visit.
- Composite or filling material. The most cost-effective material for improving the aesthetics of incisors. Our clinic currently uses very high-end composite materials, which means that even with these materials today, surprising aesthetic results can be achieved. The new generation of composite materials also does not discolour over time, but unlike the above-mentioned types of restorations, the composite material may lose a little of its shine over time, but this can be easily regained by simply polishing the restorations created – usually, for convenience, patients combine polishing with a check-up or annual dental hygiene. It should also be mentioned that composite restorations have another major advantage that the above types of restorations do not – they can be created in one visit and there is no need to book multiple appointments.
