Dental onlays are restorations used to repair and strengthen a damaged tooth. 👉Definition: dental onlays are custom-made restorations, individual to each patient, made from materials such as porcelain or composite. They are designed to cover part of the tooth surface, for example in cases where the decay is too large to be replaced with a filling, but not large enough for a crown. 👉Function: onlays are made to restore the structure of the tooth - to strengthen it and preserve its function.
